Sunday 27th August – Wolverhampton to Market Harborough

Well today commences Phase 12 which is the final phase of the European Odyssey. Our challenge today is to drive from Wolverhampton into the heart of downtown Birmingham to drop off the red Italian racing 🚗.

From here, a very hot and sweaty walk to New Street Railway Station where we catch the 12.22 pm (running late of course) to Leicester with a change to Market Harborough where a Wolfgang and Marlene await our arrival.

We will be with Wolfgang and Marlene until next Sunday cruising down to Northampton. They will then leave the boat for a return visit to Munich and Bremen to celebrate Marlene’s 60th birthday.

Unfortunately we will be unable to join them as we are babysitting Ange de L’Eau for them but in the week we are all together we will no doubt be able to have some celebrations.

Our train trip to Market Harborough was uneventful, thankfully. It was very easy to find the guys and Ange de L’eau moored up.

Market Harborough wharf was itself very picturesque and it was nice to arrive on a very sunny day. Today will be 24c.

We cruised for about three hours down the Market Harborough arm canal to Foxton junction. It was like slipping back into old slippers being back on the canals.

Tomorrow we head up a very picturesque section of locks. We will give you more information tomorrow on the canal and this amazing lock flight.

We hope we can remember how to do locks!!

We arrived in Foxton at 7.00pm just in time to have a pub dinner and congratulatory drink.
