So it was farewell to Canberra after a wonderful stay with Liv and Mark but not before Fras climbed up Red Hill and went for a walk around the golf course following all the kangaroos. We left the city via the swimming pool in the centre of the city where we felt we needed to blow out a few cobwebs. We are not use to 50 metre pools so were both rather puffed after just ten laps.
It was then on the road from Canberra to the Hume Highway and up to Weemilah which is the name of the property where Nick’s parents live. They are about 10 kilometres from the lovely town of Robertson which is situated in the Southern Highlands region – the definition of the Southern Highlands is all relative.
Many of you know of our good friend Nick and may have even met him. He went through High School with Fraser and Mark who we just stayed with in Canberra. We have known his mum Jan, and dad Nigel for a very long time and have visited them at their property every time we have had an opportunity.
Nicks mum and dad moved from Sydney to Weemilah twenty years ago and have turned their two acres into a bush oasis.
Nicks sister Ali is also visiting with her mum and dad at present. Ali currently lives in the Netherlands with her husband and two children and we have visited them a number of times. In 2017 we looked after their two children whilst they went away for a friends wedding and got to learn what having two teenagers was really like. Conclusion we came to was that we weren’t parent material.
We arrived around 3.00pm and spent a wonderful afternoon sitting on the swing chair enjoying the magnificent view; sound of the birds; warm wind and the smell of bush land. They are on two acres and look out towards the east and over the Kangaroo Valley. It is considerably cooler up on the ridge where they live and they also incur a higher rainfall so everything was looking very green.
