We had a few jobs to do this morning such as fill up the pantry again. It is hard to compare apples to apples when shopping but we would say the price of groceries here as compared to Canada is roughly the same. Unfortunately the fruit is not cheaper and when you think about it, this is the land of plenty where most fruits are able to be grown locally.
Fras popped in to see his auntie with his mum and take her for aΒ walk. After that he leapt on his bike and went around Albert Park in 27c heat and then wondered why he suffered from a cracking headache.
As the day warmed up around 3.00pm we wandered down to the beach which is a block away and went for our first ocean swim since we got to Australia. Technically it is the Southern Ocean but we were swimming in Port Philip Bay. The only waves were those whipped up by the wind and there was not a strong undertow as when you swim on ocean beaches. Forgot just how salty it was. They are all geared up here and had outside showers you could rinse yourself off with. Really enjoyed the swim and will be keen to do it again.
We were stunned how many people were sunbathing. We thought Aussies had got it about skin cancers but obviously some choose to ignore the advice. Sure, some would be foreigners but most of them were Aussies. One older lady truly looked like a leather handbag and yet she was out there getting more of it!!! Oh well, you can lead a horse to water but you canβt make it drink.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing in the air-con and had a much needed rest as it all starts again on Monday.
